Polaris has been producing youth theater in New York City since 2008. Our kids come from all over the New York metro area. Although some kids come from the local performing arts high schools, we welcome all kids, regardless of their level of experience.
We’re planning auditions for Legally Blonde for January 7 and 11. This is a fully staged, off-Broadway production of the full-length Broadway show.
Rehearsals will be on Tuesdays and Saturdays beginning in January. Six performances are planned for April 30th through May 3rd.
The Addams Family (School Edition)
This fall we are planning an accelerated production of the school edition of The Addams Family. Auditions for The Addams Family will be held in September, followed by eight Saturday rehearsals. We’ll have two performances in November. We’ll post more information about that soon. Last Fall we produced Once On This Island Jr. Previous Fall shows include The Sound of Music (school edition) and The Little Mermaid Jr.
We will post more information about the season as it becomes available. But if you don’t want to miss anything, you can can sign up for our e-mail updates. We’ll keep your address private and only use it to update you about auditions, open mics and other performance opportunities you may be interested in. That’s it.
If you decide to enroll in a Polaris show, with very few exceptions, you will be cast in the show. We ask you to audition so we can cast you in a role that best highlights your abilities, and helps you grow and develop as a performer.
The tuition fee for our off-Broadway productions is generally $800, and is due in full after you’ve been cast and have accepted your role. There is a 20% sibling discount.
About Our Auditions
Polaris auditions are not meant to be competitive and I don’t use them to turn kids away. I want as many kids as possible to experience the joy that musical theater can bring into their lives. I don’t want audition anxiety to stand between a young person and a potentially life-changing experience, so I work to make my auditions as friendly as possible.
My musical director and I use auditions to help us discover what an actor’s vocal abilities are, and to get a sense of who they are, so that we can cast them in roles that make the most of their unique gifts.
All kids are welcome. Polaris is inclusive, friendly, accessible, and dedicated to serving the families of our community.
